In French, the word Oubliette means “to forget”. Castles used to have places called oubliettes that were dungeon areas where people were put to be forgotten, basically left until they died. This chained angel art expresses the depths of despair and the feeling of entrapment while feeling forgotten. But she looks up in hope that maybe one day her wings will heal and she’ll be free.
